U-Girder Formwork
A U-girder forms an open trough that carries the lower half of a metro car; acoustic panels on the side walls absorb rolling noise and reduce what reaches nearby buildings. The formwork is designed with balanced load paths, hydraulic retraction of the inner form, a lifting system that carries the inner form as one piece, quick side-form stripping, variable-section soffit segments that rotate down before prestress release, and end forms arranged for easy stripping.
